| We were delighted that our new rentals website RandRentals.com got so much attention from the New York Times this past weekend, with afeature article in the Westchester Real Estate section discussing the growth of the rental market and our response to it.I just wanted to reiterate some of the points I made to Elsa Brenner from the Times about why we created the site:1. Rental Clients Deserve Better For too long, the rental market has been a backwater, with rental clients being treated like second-class citizens. They don’t have dedicated search functions on most real estate websites, professional and productive agents generally don’t handle rental clients, and they simply don’t get the same level of service that buyers and sellers get. Indeed, the rental market is rife with scam artists, bait and switches, and Craigslist scams that give the whole industry a bad name.By creating randrentals.com, and by some other things we are doing internally to professionalize our rental business, we hope to raise the bar on service to landlords and tenants. For example, the rental site has a whole host of informational advisories to tenants explaining the process, lease terms, and explaining how to maintain good relations with landlords. 2. The Rental Market is Stronger Than Ever |
