UPDATE: January 28, 2012 – The chart featured below was recently posted in our monthly newsletter from the Rockland County Board of Realtors. A quick glance shows that January of 2005 was the best year. Sales have dropped by 2138 units since the glory days of 2005. Remember folks, this is not Rockland County NY sales, this is ALL of NY State. Yes, mortgage rates are low, and rents are high, but even though Mr. Yun (NAR chief economist) writes that Job creation is “up”, and yet we still hear all around us is that consumer confidence is low.
In this writer’s opionion, couple that lack of consumer confidence with the uncertainty in an election year and it could translate to a soft real estate market and another challenging year. You may have heard about the nightmare of trying to secure a mortgage and mortgage nightmares abound. Many agents locate a buyer for a property only to see the entire transaction fall apart by lack of mortgage financing and very strict guidelines. Â Selling Real Estate in Rockland County NY or anywhere for that matters these days is not for the faint of heart.
